The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has accorded approval to the development project worth Rs 17.238 million of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore.

The project titled 'Provision of Hostel for Visiting Faculty at UVAS' will complete in 12 months. Under the project, a hostel will be constructed for accommodation of at least 10-15 foreign visiting faculty members. Allied facilities will also be provided for the purpose.

These facilities will help improve quality of teaching, academic and research. The UVAS is already working with the HEC for Foreign Faculty Hiring programme and has provided detailed need assessment for various disciplines.

Higher Education Commission Executive Director Sohail Naqvi appreciated the UVAS for efficiently executing uplift projects. He assured that the HEC would extend every possible support to the UVAS for the cause of education.

The HEC Strategic Vision and Quality Assurance DG also lauded the UVAS performance since its establishment in 2002. Since establishment of the university, over a dozen expatriate Pakistani veterinary experts visited the UVAS and delivered lectures.

The university is working to help improve and modernise animal entrepreneurship from traditional to modern farming system through development of modern technologies and more focused research on applied problems. Provision of accommodation and other facilities to the foreign faculty will help ensure quality education and research.
